AD/HD Coaching  as provided in my Cincinnati office, centers around improving executive functioining  and helping a client become empowered to  "get things done".  ADHD coaching  is a goal oriented process that is individualized and action-focused, so the client is working to build productive habits and systems that lead to a fulfilling life.  As described by nationally known practitioner Nancy Ratey, it helps the client to:
  • Understand that the source of many of their challenges is AD/HD , not personal shortcomings.
  • Safely examine areas of failure and areas where they want to be held accountable.
  • Heighten self-awareness and self-observation skills, and use those heightened skills to improve decision-making and performance.
  • Change perspective when “stuck”, for example, learning new ways to work with procrastination, perfectionism, staying on task, or being more consistent.
  • Become aware of their own learning styles, processing styles and learning preferences so they can enhance their ability to learn and comprehend information and situations.
    • Take ownership and self-responsibility.
    AD/HD coaching also:
    • Provides support from an understanding coach who is knowledgeable about AD/HD.
    • Helps clients identify their positive AD/HD characteristics and to appreciate their strengths.
    • Improves client's understanding of AD/HD related to their learning styles and personal challenges.
    • Nurtures personal awareness and responsibility, and encourages the client to look for options that lead to progress and success.
    • Guides the client into actions that (re)build self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-regulation.
    • Focuses on the client’s executive functioning skills (i.e., planning, prioritizing, and analyzing) to create customized systems that will improve the client’s consistency and effectiveness.
    • Provides consistent accountability and encourages the client to move beyond thinking into appropriate action.
    • Helps clients learn to advocate and speak out for their own needs
    • Builds hope by educating clients about AD/HD
